How to Build Your Race-Week Itinerary
Race week in Concord tends to stack events closely together, so a little structure goes a long way. Rather than trying to catch everything, pick one or two anchor events, usually the main race and perhaps a night at zMAX Dragway, and build the rest of your days around them. Practice and qualifying sessions, fan zones and evening entertainment can then fill the gaps without leaving you exhausted before the green flag drops.
Balance track time with downtime
Late May in the Carolinas is often hot and humid, and long days in the grandstands take more out of you than you expect. Plan a lighter day between big outings: a relaxed watch party, a meal in Concord or a slow afternoon near your hotel. Sunscreen, a refillable water bottle where venue rules allow, and ear protection for both the speedway and the dragway are worth packing for every outing.
Think about traffic before you choose
The area around the speedway and dragway shares roads, so major nights at one venue affect access to the other. If you want to see a concert in Charlotte and a track event on the same day, allow generous travel time and check whether official shuttles or designated rideshare zones are offered. Arriving early and staying until traffic thins is often less stressful than leaving at the final lap.
Confirm details close to the date
Schedules for race weekends can shift because of weather, television windows or operational changes, and concert lineups are sometimes updated. Check each venue's official channels a few days before you go and again on the morning of the event. Keep digital tickets downloaded in case mobile signal is weak in crowded areas.
